We walk through the woods, thinking we know our way around. Ok, we know where we are, but yet we don’t. Yes, we are right by the road, and surely we parked just down here…?! Where is the Land Rover???
We drove into the Forest of Dean late in the afternoon and got a great glimpse of this area on the border of Wales. When we found the perfect stopover for the night beside a gate into the forest, we were very pleased.
Large pine trees are reaching up towards the sky. Even the Land Rover feels a little small parked here.
After breakfast the following morning we decide to go for a walk. The forest is home to several mountain bike trails, and although some of the slopes are really steep, it would be fun to give it a go.
We stride on, believing we are heading back towards the car. Apparently not. In the end, we have to walk back out onto the road, and find the Land Rover that way. Not our intention. Of course we find it, but boy we had to walk quite a distance south from where we were parked up.
We drive into southern Wales. Decide to have our lunch in Brecon Beacons National Park at Talybont Reservoir. Continue slightly westward before we drive back north. Get to see another steam train, another old castle, and view the beautiful green hills. Joe is having fun with the Welch accent. Land Rover behaving most of the time and all the time the weather is with us. We are certainly not complaining.
