Street art

Soletraveller loves street art. It may be Banksy’s political stencils or an interesting detail in a street scene.

We previously made a trip where we ‘hunted’ Banksy pieces. Whether they were all ‘real’ Banksy is debatable, but it is nice to see that part of this art is being preserved. There are places where the art has been protected with Plexiglas and silicone. Read about our trip here.

Since then we have been fascinated by C215, which is the French man ‘Christian Guémy’s’ signature. We have experienced that some of his art is often difficult to spot. He is fond of using mailboxes and electric distribution boxes. C215 has become well known over time and you can find his art in cities such as Rome, Barcelona, Paris, New Delhi and Istanbul, to mention a few.

From Reykjavik.

From Poznan.

From Bristol.

From Barcelona.

In Barcelona we fell in love with the cities own ‘Axe Colours’ amazing portraits. His art includes Rick Grimes from Walking Dead and Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. They were really glowing on the street scene and one was tempted to hunt for even more pieces. Check his Instagram account here.

Some cities for good street art:

The colourful little city oozes creativity and there is a lot of art to be seen on the walls here.

Banksy’s birthplace, apparently. The city is full of creative people and it’s not just Banksy’s art you will find here.

You find not only graffiti art, but other fun little details on the street scene.

Needless to say there is a lot of exciting street art here.

It is not only the outdoor gallery ‘East Side Gallery’ (part of the old Berlin wall) where you find great wall art. All over the city you will find interesting pieces on the walls.
